Vision
The lamp of learning in the logo of the college was notionally lighted by Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore during his two-night’s stay in the present room no. 4 of the college building (the then garden house of the zamindar of Ramgarh) in his short sojourn to Midnapore town for inaugurating Vidyasagar Smriti Mandir on 16th December, 1939. The college building was also blessed with the touch of the lotus-feet of many legendary persons, viz. Tarasankar Bandopadhyay, Amiya Chakraborty, Kshitimohan Sen Shastri, Sajani Kanta Das, Sir Yadunath Sarkar, Krishna Kripalani, Ramananda Chattopadhyay, Anil Kumar Chanda, Sudha Kanta Roy Chowdhury, Raghubir Singha, Bajendranath Bandopadhyay, Pabitra Gangopadhyay, Nalini Kanta Sarkar, Radhakomal Singha, Sati Debi, Jaya Das, Bijoya Das, Hasi Mukhopadhyay, Sagarmoy Ghosh, Sujit Ranjan Roy, Anadi Ghosh Dastidar and the like.
The inheritance of such a pristine glory determined the vision of the college at the time of its actual inception in the building and has successfully guided it to blossom out into a multidisciplinary college in the last six decades or so. And it is easily discernible in the changing name of the college from “College of Commerce” to “Kaibalyadayini College of Commerce” and finally to “K. D. College of Commerce and General Studies”. Thus, rooted in Tagore, the academic vision of the college is one of materialising the words of the bard – “The highest education is that which does not merely give us information, but makes our life in harmony with all existence”. Our college envisages the systematic promotion, expansion and implementation of that kind of education the cultivation of which flowers one with the acquisition of knowledge and skill and with “the manifestation of the perfection already in man” (as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda), leading to the progress of mankind and the prosperity of society.

INSTITUTIONAL EFFORTS/ INITIATIVES IN PROVIDING AN INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT
DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSIVE GOAL STATEMENT
Every Institute has different environment considering different categories of staff and students in respect of religions ,races, cultures ,work forces , opinions , sex bar at work place ,sharing attitudes and depth of knowledge. We know Diversity will be existed everywhere but to achieve the success of the physical, mental and wellbeing of employees and students, unity in Diversity is very much important. Always we share our knowledge with others, with our junior and senior colleagues, given the importance of others opinion, respect the cultures, races and religions of others ,also respect both the sexes to work jointly in a common place. Always we have kept in our mind that via fraternity, equality, friendship and co operation we can achieve the goal of any aspiration and ultimately reach the topmost level of any ambition. Co operation echoes teamwork and the teamwork nullify the disparity , inequality and increase the inclusive property of every people and can tackle every situation to reach at topmost position.
Considering these points we always sacrifice ourselves to these domains and for that reason we have successfully completed more than 60 years of academic and administrative activities in our Institute.
